As a Council we’re committed to the redevelopment of Fremantle Oval, adding more vibrancy and entertainment mix to our City.

Strategic partnerships with all levels of government and the private sector will help us achieve our goals for this important community asset.

With pleasure we can announce a new partnership arrangement with the Perth Glory that will see the A-League Club relocate to Fremantle Oval, pending final approval by Council.

While the Glory will primarily use Fremantle Oval as a training site, it’s also expected to deliver some limited Perth Glory match content during the Summer 21/22 period, including A-League pre-season & W-League fixtures.

Fremantle Oval Redevelopment

Fremantle Oval Master Plan

The redevelopment masterplan includes new clubrooms and grandstands, improved spectator facilities, lighting upgrades and the realignment of the playing field to reconnect the oval to the heritage-listed Victoria Pavilion.

Other improvements include new grass banks, undercover seating terraces, a new events space, nature play area and improved connections with the rest of the city.

The Masterplan was prepared by the City of Fremantle in collaboration with South Fremantle Football Club, Fremantle Football Club and the WA Football Commission, with assistance from the state government’s Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

The total cost of implementing the Masterplan is estimated at approximately $36.8 million, with four independent stages and still subject to funding.

New partnerships such as those with Perth Glory firm up the investment case in Fremantle Oval even more, bringing the long-overdue redevelopment one step closer.

GO GLORY!! GO FREO!!
