Fremantle residents are invited to have their say on a proposed six storey community purpose and accommodation facility on Queen Victoria Street and Beach Street.

The proposal, put forward by St Patrick’s Community Support Centre, would replace the centre’s existing accommodation facilities from 22 short-stay units to provide 28 long-stay apartments.

It also involves moving the entrance of the existing community support centre from Queen Victoria Street to Beach Street, creating a new space with community services off Beach Street and upgrading the existing heritage offices on Queen Victoria Street.

The City of Fremantle’s community consultation on the proposal is now open.

Feedback can be provided by completing the online submission form on the City’s My Say Freo website.

Submissions close at 11:59pm, Friday 5 August 2022.

The City is hosting a “Talk to a Planner” session at Fremantle Library in the Walyalup Civic Centre on Thursday 28 July at 5.30pm.

Submissions will be reviewed by the City’s assessing officer, who will prepare a report to the Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) which has the final say on the proposal.

Fremantle Council’s Planning Committee will consider the report before it is referred to the JDAP.

To find out more about the proposal please call 1300 MY FREO (1300 69 3736) or email planning@fremantle.wa.gov.au.
