With great relief we can announce that Stage 1 of Pipes for Fremantle project is now complete.
Small business owners I have spoken with did report a decline in sales while construction fences occupied their streets, however they were quick to note it wasn’t as bad as they had feared.
I have been very impressed with the team at the Water Corporation throughout this project. At our regular stakeholder consultation meetings, problems are identified by our traders, solutions are work-shopped and appropriate action is taken. Water Corporation really listened and acted to accommodate — such as breaking the project into two stages to offer reprieve from construction fences during the busier Christmas period.
Stage 2 kicks off in May 2020 and is expected to be more disruptive, especially on High Street. So please remember to shop locally and support our traders over the Christmas period and through Stage 2 of construction.
